GP referrals

When your GP has decided to refer you for an outpatient appointment this will then be sent to the Outpatient Booking Office directly or using the e-Referral Service (eRS). The referral letter is then logged onto our Patient Administration System on the date received, triaged and prioritised by the relevant consultant.

Your appointment letter

You will receive a call to book your appointment; alternatively an appointment letter confirming all the relevant details and information will be sent. Please read your letter carefully and remember to check the date, time and location of your appointment. There may be occasions when we need to contact you at short notice for your appointment.

Managing appointments

We have an outpatient appointment management system to reduce missed appointments and help manage telephone queries. You will be automatically reminded of your outpatient appointment seven and three days prior to the date of the appointment; this will be on your mobile phone, you will have the option to opt out of receiving these messages, change or cancel your appointment.

Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust have launched a new Patient Portal to make it quicker and easier for patients to keep track of appointments, clinical letters and pre-assessments.

The new portal called MySASH will help patients to view upcoming appointment times and locations. For more more information click here.
