To help control the spread of Norovirus in our hospital and keep patients safe, please do not visit East Surrey Hospital unless you have an urgent clinical need. From today we are temporarily restricting visitors to affected wards below, unless approved by the ward manager in exceptional circumstances. Visiting in all other areas will be limited to one person per patient per day. These restrictions do not apply to paediatric, maternity, or end-of-life patients. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates on this page. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Affected wards:
AMU
Meadvale
Abinger
Smallfield
Godstone
IRU
Capel
We know how important visiting is for our patients, their families, friends and carers.
Patients and visitors do not need to wear a mask whilst in clinical areas or during appointments at East Surrey Hospital, unless they wish to. Masks will continue to be available at our entrances for all who wish to continue wearing them. The wearing of masks in non-clinical areas remains optional.
If you have symptoms associated with respiratory conditions, including COVID-19 and flu, we ask that you do not visit our hospital unless you are a patient with a booked appointment which you should still attend.
If you have had diarrhoea or vomiting, you should not come to the hospital until you have been symptom free for at least 48 hours. You can find out more about Norovirus here.
Visiting remains open, except for wards with infection control restrictions in place such as in areas affected by Norovirus.
We have put these measures in place to protect patients, our community and NHS staff while ensuring as many services as possible are available for those who need them.
We will keep these arrangements under close review and will update this page with the latest guidance.
