Mr. Nicholas F. Gowland Hopkins, MS, FRCS. Is a Consultant Vascular and General Surgeon.
He trained at Guy’s Hospital London, qualifying in 1973. His postgraduate training was mostly based at The Royal Postgraduate Medical School, Hammersmith Hospital with additional time at St. Thomas’ Hospital London and The John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford.
He undertook research based at the Hammersmith Hospital studying tissue perfusion and healing with particular interest in Venous Ulcers and Venous Pathophysiology. He was awarded his MS thesis for this work. He has written text book chapters and research articles on venous and arterial disease.
He was appointed Consultant Surgeon to Crawley and Horsham Hospitals in 1990, moving to East Surrey with hospital reconfiguration. He now has clinics at Horsham and East Surrey Hospitals, does day care surgery at Crawley Hospital and is part of the Sussex Regional Group of Vascular Surgeons undertaking all major arterial treatments at Brighton and Sussex University Hospital at emergency and planned, routine levels.
