Respiratory Cancer Care

The Trust’s thoracic medicine team is part of the Surrey, West Sussex and Hampshire (SWSH) Cancer Network and so patients with lung cancer, who need oncology treatment, are referred by our thoracic consultants to Dr Veni Ezhil from St Luke’s Cancer Centre, at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, Guildford. She sees patients at East Surrey Hospital and can arrange treatment at St Luke’s Cancer Centre. This centre carries out the majority of lung cancer chemotherapy and all of the radiotherapy on the Trust’s lung cancer patients. If lung cancer is suspected, patients are referred by their GP under the two week rule to one of our department’s clinics. A bronchoscopy may be taken or a CT- guided biopsy of the lung. The results are discussed by the lung cancer multi-disciplinary team, led by Dr Ed Cetti, and treatment decided.
