• welcome to the surrey and sussex breast unit

Breast Unit

The Breast Unit is dedicated to providing an effective and comprehensive service for women and men who have been diagnosed with a breast problem, and provide support to them and their families as needed.

The breast clinical nurse specialist (CNS) team

We have specialist knowledge and skills in breast cancer care and are sometimes referred to as ‘key workers’ or ‘Macmillan nurses’. We are here to provide help and support to our patient’s and their family/carer at a time of diagnosis, during treatment and helping to move forwards after.

Working as part of a team, with other members of the multidisciplinary team involved in your care, we aim to offer you support and be a continuing link through all areas of your breast care treatment.

The breast clinical nurse specialists also provide nurse led services that include post diagnosis telephone clinics, prosthesis fittings, Holistic Need Assessment Support and Wellbeing clinics.

How to contact the breast clinical nurse specialists

You can contact us if you have any concerns, need advice or for psychological support. No concern s too big or small and the support we offer is ongoing – it doesn’t stop when your treatment finishes.

Our working hours are: Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4pm except Bank Holidays. Please note: we are often away from our desks in clinics or ward areas so if you get the answer machine pleas leave your name, telephone number and short message and we will endeavour to get back to you the same working day where possible.

Messages left after 4pm will be picked up the following working day.
