A brand new surgery centre has opened at East Surrey Hospital. The centre, which officially opened on June 26. is a dedicated area for patients who need day case or short stay surgery.
Mr Alan James clinical lead general surgery breast and vascular said: “This is an excellent new facility and will help us streamline our day surgery service and meet the needs of our patients.
“Due to changes in surgical techniques and recovery options increasingly more and more operations can be done as day cases or very short stays.”
Ian Mackenzie, director of information and facilities said: “The new £1.7 million surgery centre has taken just six months to build.”
The new state of the art centre has two procedure rooms, three consultation rooms, recovery and trolley and waiting areas.
