Teams across East Surrey Hospital have reason to be pleased following being successfully shortlisted in the Support for Caregivers, Friends and Family category of the national PENNA 2016 Awards run by the Patient Experience Network.
The shortlist recognises the efforts made by the hospital, run by Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust (SASH), in providing additional support for carers through its Carers’ Passport and for patients and their friends and family with the introduction of open visiting.
Michael Wilson CBE, chief executive said: “This is a wonderful acknowledgment of the hard work and commitment of our staff in ensuring that our patients and their family and friends not only receive the high quality care they need but that they also have the best experience of care too.
“I am delighted that two of our recent initiatives, the Carers’ Passport and open visiting, which were both introduced this year (2016), have led us to being shortlisted and know that this is down to the hard work and dedication of everyone at SASH as they care for people from the communities we serve.”
The winners will be announced in March 2017.
