This Christmas, young patients receiving treatment at East Surrey Hospital run by Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust (SASH) enjoyed carol singing and Christmas songs sung by the 7th Crawley Beaver Scout Colony from Furnace Green, Crawley, who visited the children’s ward on Tuesday 18 December 2018.

Beaver Colony
The 7th Crawley Beaver Scout Colony is one of several other Beaver Colonies in the district of Crawley. Joined by Santa Claus, who gifted around 30 children and their siblings with cuddly toys, the young beavers sung a variety of songs including; away in a manger, jingle bells, frosty the snowman and Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer.
The colony is part of the World Wide Scouting Association and is led by Yvonne Seetayah, beaver scout leader and dermatology secretary at Crawley Hospital. Yvonne said: “Part of being a beaver scout is being kind, helpful and team spirited. We are always happy to visit the children at East Surrey Hospital at this time of year.”
Katie Hoad, health play specialist on Outwood Ward said: “Christmas can be an emotional period for young patients and their families, so it is important to bring some excitement to the ward during the festive season. Thank you to the beavers who gave up their evening to join us on the ward for a sing-a-long.”
