The midwives at East Surrey Hospital got their buns in the oven last week (17) when they held a very successful fund raising “Muffins for Midwives” sale.
Organised by midwife Helen Wickens, the staff baked the tasty treats and sold them to hungry visitors and staff. In just over an hour they raised more than £230 for a charity which is close to their hearts.
The organisation Maternity Worldwide came up with the cake baking idea to raise money to pay for the training of midwives in Africa. It costs just £80 for the training which can help save the lives of both mothers and babies.
