Taking the skills he uses every day at East Surrey Hospital’s Emergency Department is David Barton – who jumps aboard the Magical Taxi Tour on Friday (18) to give seriously ill children the trip of a lifetime.
The lead emergency practitioner is joining the annual tour to Disneyland Paris to provide medical support for the children and their families on their three day adventure.
The convoy of vehicles, including around 90 London taxis, will set off from Canary Wharf in London and take more than 200 chronically ill children to see Mickey Mouse and his friends.
David has worked at the hospital run by Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust for eight years and this is the sixth time he has volunteered for the charity trip. He said: “These children spend a lot of their time in and out of hospital and because of their complex health needs they usually can’t travel abroad. By taking the hospital with us to Disneyland Paris they and their families get a wonderful weekend of fun and amazing memories.”
