Local hospital boss Michael Wilson has been named as one the top 50 chief executives in the NHS.
Michael has been leading the team at Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, which runs East Surrey Hospital, for six year.
He said: “I am delighted to be on this list but success is a team effort and I think this is well deserved recognition of the commitment and dedication of all the staff at SASH. I have a fantastic group of people who work incredibly hard every day, providing high quality care and my thanks go to all of them.”
The annual list published by leading healthcare magazine, the Healthcare Journal (HSJ), celebrates the NHS leaders whose outstanding leadership and patient focus stand out. The HSJ recognised Michael’s role in helping the Trust become one of the top performing acute hospitals in the country and the magazine said he is now being talked about as a ‘system leader’.
A panel of expert judges looked at the care quality at each organisation as well the chief executive’s leadership, impact, patient focus, communication, mentorship and engagement skills.
