Everyone at Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust is celebrating their success in winning the Board Leadership category in the national Patient Safety Awards 2016 at the Patient Safety Congress and Awards event held in Manchester last night (5 July).
Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, which runs East Surrey Hospital, were shortlisted to a final nine organisations, from across the country, ahead of the winning announcement. The Trust was also shortlisted for the Best Organisation category.
Michael Wilson CBE, chief executive, said: “I am delighted that the strong leadership of our Board has been recognised in this way. I am also proud that through their proactive support we have strong clinical leadership; the hard work, professionalism and commitment of staff across the Trust is all part of our success and should also be recognised by this fantastic accolade.
“I know how much our patients value the excellent care and what this positive experience means to the people we care for because they regularly take the time to tell us – winning the award is fantastic recognition of the achievement of our Board and all our staff in putting patient safety at the centre of everything we do.”
Alan McCarthy, chair, added: “It is a privilege to be part of the Board at SASH. Winning this award is fantastic recognition of the efforts and achievements of everyone across the whole organisation and the difference the care they provide makes to patients. Working together is core to our success as we continue our journey of improvement from a good organisation to an outstanding one.”
The awards are run by the Health Service Journal – the leading UK health publication.
