Dr Obioma Ihezue is a consultant paediatrician at East Surrey Hospital since May 2022, covering general paediatrics and diabetes. He has expertise in managing a wide range of paediatric problems.

He received his primary medical qualification from the University of Nigeria, his paediatric training in the East of England and completed the special interest (SPIN) in Diabetes training. He has a Master of Science Degree in Child health from the University of Hertfordshire.

He is a member of professional organisations including: Royal college of Paediatrics and Child Health, UK (RCPCH), Royal college of Physicians Ireland, (RCPI), British Society for Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes (BSPED) and Association of Children’s Diabetes Clinicians (ACDC).

Dr Ihezue is a qualified medical educator with a postgraduate certificate of medical education from Edgehill University, and deputy Medical Student Supervisor at Surrey & Sussex NHS Trust for St Georges Hospital University of London medical students on Paediatric placements. He is an assessor for the Royal College START (Speciality Trainee Assessment for Readiness for Tenure) Assessment.

He is currently principal investigator (PI) for the ELSA Study: Early Surveillance for Autoimmune diabetes for Surrey and Sussex Healthcare.
