Dr Emmanuel completed his undergraduate training at University of Liverpool, attaining distinctions in his undergraduate work and awarded a scholarship in histology. He completed his postgraduate training in endocrinology at University College London, then specialising in obesity, as Medical Research council research fellow, completing a PhD in obesity. He then spent six years at St Bartholomew’s Hospital medical obesity clinic, as the obesity physician, and was one of the first to adopt combination medical therapy for obesity in the UK. This work has been peer reviewed and disseminated to an international audience. He has several peer reviewed journal articles on the treatment of obesity, endocrinology and general internal medicine, and remains an active researcher in obesity endocrinology and general internal medicine.
He undertakes thyroid, pituitray, parathyroidand and adrenal disease at Surrey and Sussex Healthcare, linking with multi-disciplinary teams at SASH and at St George’s Hospital London/ Brighton Hospital and Imperial Healthcare London. He has over 10 years' experience as a consultant endocrinologist and has treated over 5,000 patients at SASH, rated outstanding by the CQC.
He enjoys playing rugby and cricket locally and captains the second team and is club secretary at Purley John Fisher Rugby club in Old Coulsdon.
