Annual Infection Prevention and Control Reports
The Infection Prevention, Control & Antimicrobial Stewardship (IPCAS) annual report has been prepared for, and is submitted to, the SASH Trust Board by the IPCAS Team. This report summarises the annual achievements, developments, performance and standards by the Trust and its staff in key areas and against key objectives, relating to infection prevention and control and prudent antibiotic prescribing. Infection prevention control and antimicrobial stewardship are an integral aspect of patient safety and the Trust's strategic objective of delivering safe healthcare.
As SASH NHS Trust continually develops and expands clinical services and estate, this continues to pose both opportunities and challenges for the control of infection in the healthcare environment. The demand for infection prevention & control, antibiotic stewardship and clinical microbiology expertise remains at a high level and is challenging to meet. Healthcare-associated infection (HCAI) and alert organism surveillance continues alongside the IPCAS programme and ensuring the Trust is sighted on national and local IPC risks. The IPCAS team aim to ensure a balanced focus on all elements of the programme and has continued to prioritise the delivery of a responsive service according to clinical patient safety and IPC demands.
