Are you eligible for the NHS’ new alternative choice programme?
As announced by NHS England today as part of the drive to reduce elective waiting lists and increase patient choice, NHS trusts are now proactively contacting patients who have been waiting over 40 weeks, and do not have an appointment date within the next eight weeks, to consider whether they could be seen sooner at a different hospital if clinically appropriate.
That means from today we will be contacting eligible patients that are currently under our care, providing them with more information on their options and the process if they would like to consider transferring their care to a different NHS provider.
All eligible patients will be contacted directly by our team either by text message or letter so please do not proactively contact our switchboard or your local GP practice regarding this offer.
For more information on alternative choice – please see the NHS England website.
