The NHS Big7Tea will be a chance for people up and down the country to come together and toast 70 years of the NHS on Thursday 5 July 2018.
SASH Charity is asking local people to host their own tea party and invite friends, family and colleagues along to mark the occasion and raise funds.
The humble cup of tea has a long and proud association with the NHS. Originally served to patients in traditional fine cups with saucers and side spoon, tea was considered an important aspect of patient satisfaction and recovery.
Emily Brown, fundraising manager for SASH Charity said: “To celebrate the 70th anniversary we would love to have as many people as possible involved in raising funds for SASH Charity, as a thank you to the NHS. We are inviting you to have tea with friends, neighbours or work colleagues and support our work. Any size party can make a big difference to your local hospital and this is a great opportunity to give something back.
We also hope the Big 7Tea will help spread the word about the work of SASH Charity and how you can get involved in our latest projects. SASH Charity is currently fundraising £60K to create a dementia friendly garden at East Surrey Hospital”
The NHS Big 7Tea is a national initiative to raise awareness of the vital work of NHS charities. SASH Charity is one of more than 250 NHS charities across the UK.
